The Best Female Gamblers Of All Time

At present and for the conceivable future, the gambling industry is one of those areas where men dominate and lead. However, that does not mean that there have never been any female gamblers worthy of note. In fact, there are more than a few female gamblers and the best are mentioned below:

1. Vanessa Selbst

World Series of Poker Champ! There are few female gamblers more popular and talented than the great Vanessa Selbst. This lady is the recipient of no less than 3 World Series of Poker bracelets, and throughout her career has earned more than $10 million. Vanessa has shown up in more than a few major tournaments and has been in the final table of World Poker Tour events. In 2018, Vanessa called it quits on professional poker, but is still involved in the poker scene in some form.

2. Lottie Deno

Lottie Deno has been at Poker longer than Niagara Falls has been gushing water, or nearly. She is one of the greatest female gamblers ever and has a descriptive nickname -the Poker Queen. From her decades of poker playing, Lottie accumulated a small fortune that enabled her to retire in affluence. She died peacefully and comfortably at 89 years of age.

3. Judy Bayley

Not many folks know about Judy Bayley and that’s a right tragedy. The First Lady of Gambling was what she was known by and for good reason. In 1956, she with her hubby opened a casino called the Hacienda. Sometime later, her husband, Warren Bayley left for the great beyond, leaving her the sole owner and operator of a casino for the first time in Nevada history. This should have been a cause for celebration, except for the inconvenient fact that the casino had debts that were crippling its operations. Still, she was able to make a name for herself and enter the record books as the individual who among other feats brought Live Keno to the iconic Las Vegas Strip.

4.Annette Obrestad

Youngest Ever World Series Of Poker Champ, Annette Obrestad had an unusual talent for poker playing and is reckoned as one of the most successful female gamblers of her generation. Online poker playing was her first love and in 2007 she became the youngest ever male or female to win the coveted World Series of Poker Europe. Not one to rest on her oars, this well decorated female gambler then, partook in such high profile events as the Aussie Millions and European Poker Tour. In 2010, she won the Aussie Millions, with more successes to follow.

5.Shirley Branucci

First Ever Female Baccarat Dealer, Branucci first began her career in the gambling world in the year 1952 as a cocktail server in Vegas. However, cocktail serving proved to be too strenuous for her, owing to back pain issues. So, she sought a change that would also add some rocket boost to her career. So, she began taking courses and learning all there was to know about all the games then featured in Vegas casinos. Later, she decided to be a Baccarat dealer, instead of a Blackjack dealer as there were at that time more than a few female Blackjack dealers.

Being a Baccarat dealer was no walk in the park for Shirley. She faced some discrimination, with some male players being unsure as to whether she had the skill to preside over such an important game as Baccarat. Nevertheless, Shirley persevered and soon became one of the most popular Baccarat dealers around. What a lady!
